Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the cold cathode gas laser tube of small size and light weight by a method wherein this tube is provided with an Al cylindrical cold cathode closely contacted with a fine tube which generates laser plasma, and with a cathode protection valve at the tip of the fine tube. CONSTITUTION:The fine tube 5 is supported by a part 1' of a casing 1 and then held in coaxial form to the casing 1. The cylindrical cathode 3' closely contacted with the outer diameter of the fine tube 5 and on the part 1' of the casing 1 is provided. Besides, the cathode protection valve 6 stretching from the tip of the fine tube 5 to the tube in coaxial form is provided. Further, mirrors 4 and 4', a cathode electrode 3, and an anode 2 are provided. Thereby, the distance from the tip 5' of the tube 5 to the surface of the cathode 3' can be kept by the valve 6, and the lifetime of the cathode 3' is prolonged.
