Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an image-receiving body capable of being favorably released from a color sheet after transfer recording, wherein a releasing agent is incorporated in an image-receiving layer comprising a thermoplastic resin as a main constituent and formed on the surface of a base for an image-receiving body for sublimation thermal transfer recording. CONSTITUTION:A resin solution obtained by using a thermoplastic resin (preferably, an acrylic resin) as a main constituent and mixing a releasing agent (preferably, a silicon compound such as polysiloxane) therewith, ordinarily followed by adding particulate silica or the like for improving fixability, is applied to the surface of a base for the image-receiving body for sublimation thermal transfer recording to provide an image-receiving layer comprising the resin and the releasing agent, thereby obtaining the image-receiving body. The releasing agent is preferably used in an amount of 1-80wt% to the resin.

In the thermal transfer recording method, the ink-coated surface of the 15-part sheet containing a dye binder is placed on a sheet-like substrate, and the ink-coated surface of the sheet is electrically connected to the image receptor, and the back side of the color sheet is heated with a thermal head. Recording is performed by transferring the dye in the color sheet to the image receptor.

Thermal transfer methods include the melt transfer method, which uses a color sheet coated with heat-melting ink, and the sublimation transfer method, which uses a color sheet coated with ink containing a sublimable dye, but the sublimation transfer method uses less energy given to the thermal head. Since the sublimation transfer t of the dye can be controlled through adjustment, gradation expression is easy and it is particularly advantageous for full-color recording.

In the sublimation transfer recording method, the image receptor is required to be dyed with the dye sublimated from the color sheet.
The surface of the image receptor has a layer 77 (hereinafter referred to as the image-receiving layer) made of a thermoplastic resin that has a high affinity with the dye used, but the temperature of the thermal head generally exceeds 10 O'C. As a result, the ink binder of the color sheet and the thermoplastic resin of the image-receiving layer soften or melt due to heat.
There is a problem in that the color sheet and the image receptor are fused together, making it difficult to peel them off after recording.

As a method for preventing the color sheet from fusing with the image receptor, a method of improving heat resistance by using a crosslinking resin in the image receiving layer (Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 5 TR-CO/3.) A method has been proposed in which the surface of the image-receiving layer is roughened by adding a pigment to the image-receiving resin (Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 107-1989).
