Abstract
PURPOSE: To control the sectional profile of a rolled hoop iron with high accuracy by controlling the rate of deviation of the axial center of a work roll in the hoop iron moving direction with respect to the roll axial center of a backup roll in rolling of a hoop iron.
CONSTITUTION: For example, in 4-stage tandem rolling mills, work roll chocks 31, 32 are moved in the arrow direction in the rolled material transfer direction by the transfer of pressure oil from oil hydraulic cylinders 41, 5 to oil hydraulic cylinders 42, 52 or vice versa. An offset rate SH is regulated by such control of oil pressure, whereby a crown change rate ΔC is regulated. As is evident from the equation, the crown change rate ΔC is approximately proportional to the offset rate SH and the denominator is fairly large with respect to the numerator in the equation; therefore, the ΔC is controlled finely by controlling the SH. In the equation, P; the width of the rolled material, LW; the barrel length of the work roll; P; rolling load, RB; the radius of the backup roll, and RW; the radius of the work roll.
