Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a water electrolyzing apparatus with a long life by a method wherein water is poured into an cathode tank and an anode tank having an electrode comprising a conductive elastomer partitioned by a diaphragm and, thereafter, DC current is applied between both electrodes.
CONSTITUTION: Electrodes 4, 5 are attached to a lower part of an upper lid 3 provided to an upper part of an electrolytic tank 1 and the electrode 4 is formed from a conductive elastomer and positioned in an anode tank 1A to be acted as an anode. Waters 6, 7 are poured into the anode tank 1A and a cathode tank 1B and, thereafter, when an upper lid 3 is placed on the tank 1 as well as positive voltage is applied to the anode 4 and negative voltage to a cathode 5 to pass electric current, by electroendosmosis action and ionization action, chlorine ion and sulfate ion contained in the water 6 in the cathode tank 1B is flowed to a side of the anode tank 1A through a diaphragm. Ca ion, Mg ion or the like contained in the water 7 in the anode tank 1A is moved through the diaphragm to increase a pH value of the water 6.
