Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress the spurious oscillation suitable for mass production, by providing electrodes on two main surfaces, providing a parallel polarized axis to the electrode surfaces, and giving a specified relation among the length, width and thickness of a piezoelectric oscillation plate. CONSTITUTION:Denoting the length of a piezoelectric oscillation plate 1 made of ceramic as L, the width as W and thickness as T, the plate 1 is supported by contacting electrode films 2,3 to an external connecting terminal plate. The relation of T<=W is obtained by the processing and support of the oscillating plate. W<=1.5T is taken to avoid ill effects at effective use. When the value of L is increased, the resonance frequency of thickness slip oscillation to be used, antiresonance frequency are almost unchanged, and the resonance frequency and antiresonance frequency of a longitudinal oscillation as spurious oscillation decrease rapidly. Practically, the piezoelectric oscillation plate can effectively be used at L/W<=1.5 and L<=4.0 W.
