CONSTITUTION:Positive electrode active substance 1, 1', negative electrode active substance 2, 2' and insulating substance 3, 3' are alternately filled into the lathy, lattice type or plate type lead or lead alloy plate in order to form serial electrode plates 4, 4'. The insulating substance 3, 3' forms a separator member 3a in a body. The separator between cells is formed by accommodating the insulating substance 3, 3' into a battery jar having not a separator and uniting the separator member 3a with the side wall and bottom of the battery jar. Neighbouring cells are connected through the parts 6, 6' of lathy, lattice type and plate type lead or lead alloy plate passing through the separator. Also, the edges 6, 6' of lead or lead alloy plate is exposed in the similar way at the separator of the edge cell, so lead cell is manufactured by connecting these edges to the external terminals and uniting the battery jar with a lid.
