Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent unnecessary creation of spark by powering an ignition coil with current for a certain period after the upper dead point and gradually reduce said current by use of a capacitor. CONSTITUTION:A high voltage is developed across a secondary coil of an ignition coil 10 in accordance with an ON/OFF operation of a breaker contact point 3. A rotary position sensor 3 detects the upper dead point and a single stabilizing multiplexer 122 feeds the ignition coil with current for a certain period after the upper dead point to interrupt generation of a spark. To prevent the generation of the spark caused by cut-off of the current through the ignition coil after a lapse of the certain period, a capacitor 126 is charged for a period which is determined by a single stabilizing multiplexer 123 so that the current for the ignition coil may be gradually reduced. Thereby, a damage of the ignition plug and unnecessary creation of the ignition spark can be prevented.
