Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a wustite layer on the surface of steel plates and to improve the descaling property, by adding a water soluble organic resin or the resin and metallic powder to the cooling water ejected upon the surface of steel plates to control the coiling temperature at the runout table, and by burning it with a heat maintained by the steel plates. CONSTITUTION:To control the coiling temperature of a steel plate 6 which has just completed its finish rolling, cooling water 4 is ejected upon the surface of the steel plate 6 from a nozzle 3 at a runout table 2 installed between the exit of a finishing mill and a coiler 5 in a hot rolling machine. When a water soluble organic resin or the resin and metallic powder are added to the cooling water 4, these substances are burned by the heat maintained by the steel plate 6. In this way, a film composed of a carbinized resin or of a carbinized resin and a metallic oxide is formed on the surface of the steel plate 6, and the descaling property is improved.
