Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a food having a high nutritive value with a slight fish smell, by freeze-drying and crushing shells or bones, and adding the entrails of a cuttlefish containing a relatively large amount of eicosapentaenoic acid to the resultant crushed shells or bones.
CONSTITUTION: Various shells, crustacean shells or bones of fishes are washed with water, dried, cooled, frozen by liquid nitrogen fully and finely pulverized to a particle size ≤200mesh. After removing ink or other attached materials, the entrails of a cuttlefish are cooled, frozen by liquid nitrogen, freeze-dried in a vacuum dryer and then pulverized. Both powders are then mixed in a suitable proportion to give the aimed product.
