NEW MATERIAL:A depsipeptide antibiotic neoviridogrisein-MP shown by the formulaI.
USE: An antibacterial agent. Having strong antibacterial action on bacteria belonging to the genus Staphylococcus including Stapylococcus aureus and its resistant bacteria, and Diplococcus pneumoniae, e.g., Streptococcus pneumoniae, etc.
PROCESS: A bacterium belonging to the genus Streptococcus, capable of producing viridogrisein or neoviridogrisein[e.g., Streptomuces sp. p 8648 ATCC 31289 (FERM- P 3562)]is inoculated into a nutritive medium consisting of a carbon source, a nitrogen source, inorganic salt, and 4-methylproline or a 4-methylproline-containing substance and cultivated aerobically at 20W33°C in a pH of 5.5W8.0.
