Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve variation in output voltage with a light load, by determining timing to break supply of base current with a voltage that is the sum of a voltage that is proportional to the collector current of the transistor and a voltage that is proportional to the output voltage. CONSTITUTION:A control voltage (VRE+Vcc) which is the sum of a voltage VRE that is proportional to the collector current of a transistor Q1 that is developed in the emitter resistance RE and a voltage Vcc that is proportional to the output voltage developed in a capacitor Cc is obtained, and this control voltage is made to turn on the transistor Q2 and turn off the transistor Q1 when it goes over the base voltage of a transistor Q2. In this arrangement control of the voltage Vcc forcibly pulls out the base current of the transistor Q1 with the transistor Q2 to reduce loss of the transistor Q1 and is able to suppress variation in the output voltage for a light load.
