Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent gas such as combustible gas, harmful gas, etc. from leaking by a method wherein a high-temperature furnace is provided with a two-stage feeder and has is introduced into an intermediate chamber provided therebetween under a higher pressure than that within the furnace. CONSTITUTION:Gas produced in a pyrolysis furnace 1 is passed thrugh a heat exchanger 52 and a cooling apparatus 53 into a CO2-separating apparatus 54 where CO2 is separated. The resulting gas is fed to a next stage by an induced blower 55. Part of the produced gas is pressurized by means of a blower 56 and again introduced as a recycle gas into the bottom of the furnace 1 to form a fluidized bed. CO2 in the CO2-separating apparatus 54 is pressurized by a compressor 57 and introduced through a conduit 58 into an intermediate chamber 3. During this introduction, the pressure within the chamber 3 is kept at a pressure which is slightly higher than that within the furnce 1. Thus, the pressure at the inlet of a straight screw feeder 2 becomes higher than that at the outlet thereof, whereby combustible gas and harmful gas in the furnace 1 is prevented from being flowed backward into the chamber 3. In this way, the leakage of the gas from a hopper to the outside is prevented.
