Abstract

PURPOSE:To control the produced amounts of reduced iron and fuel gas optionally and respectively by regulating the amounts of coke supplied to a reducing reaction tower and a combustion reaction tower respectively. CONSTITUTION:A reducing reaction tower 1 is supplied with iron ore from a supply opening 3, coke from a supply opening 4, and reducing gas from a supply opening 5, and a combustion reaction tower 2 is supplied with a carbon material such as coke from a supply opening 7 and oxygen and steam upon occasion from a supply opening 6 to burn the carbonaceous material, thereby producing particles of a fluid heat medium made of the carbonaceous material. Those particles are circulated in communicating pipes 9 and 10 and returned to both the reaction towers 1 and 2, and the fluidized- bed reduction of the iron ore is performed in the reducing reaction tower 1. At this time, gases produced in both the reaction towers 1 and 2 are led out together from a discharge opening 13, and part of the gaseous mixture is increased pressure by a gaseous pressure boosting machine 16 and then supplied as reducing gas to the reducing reaction tower 1. The remaining gas is led out of the system as fuel gas. The amount of this fuel gas and that of reduced iron discharged through the discharge opening 8 of the tower 1 are controlled by regulating the amounts of coke supplied to both towers 1 and 2.
