Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a very thin continuous tape of permanent magnet, by a method wherein molten ALNICO alloy material is spurted out of a nozzle and sprayed between high-speed rotating rolls and cooled down rapidly. CONSTITUTION:ALNICO amorphous alloy which consists of metals such as 20- 30% Co, 10-16% Ni, 6-10% Al and 0-5% Cu is melted and spurted out of a nozzle whose diameter is 0.1-1mm. and sprayed between metal rolls which are rotating at a speed of 2,000-5,000 rpm. Thus the molten alloy is cooled rapidly at a cooling speed of approximately 10<6> deg.C/sec and a continuous tape or a thin plate of the alloy material which is 20-50mum thick and 2-5mm. wide. After the amorphous alloy is turned into crystal formation by above method, the alloy is annealed at 500-650 deg.C so that a tape or a thin plate of permanent magnet which has almost the same magnetic characteristics as the one made by a conventional method is obtained by an easy method so that the cost of the alloy can be reduced.
