Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce an iron core material which is inexpensive, and exhibits extremely low iron loss by cooling an alloy in a molten state consisting essentially of Fe and substituted of the content of B with Si, C and P as far as possible, quickly thereby obtaining an amorphous state.
CONSTITUTION: The alloy expressed by the formula FeaBbPcSidCeXf (where X is ≥1 kind of Al, Sn, Ge, Ti, Zr, Nb, V, Mo, W, b=1W5atom%, c=1W10%, d= 4W14%, e=≤5%, f=≤5%, a=[100-(b+c+d+e+f)]%, and b+c+d≤15%) is melted in a melting furnace. The resultant molten metal is ejected through a nozzle of the melting furnace in an about 1,100W1,200°C temp. range onto the moving cooling surface of a cooling body such as revolving roll, whereby it is quickly cooled to solidify at about 0.5°C/sec cooling rate and the amorphous material for iron cores having ≥1.5T high saturated magnetic flux density is obtained. It is also possible to constitute the above-mentioned alloy of only the Fe, B, P and Si.
