Abstract
PURPOSE: The polymerization reaction of an acetylenic compound is conducted in the presence of a specific metal halide or its reaction product with an acetylenic compound to produce the titled polymer used as an organic semiconductor with a high grade of unsaturation under mild conditions without the process of removing ashes.
CONSTITUTION: An acetylenic compound such as acetylene is polymerized in the presence of at least one of halides of metals of group IIIb, IVb and Vb in the periodic table such as AsF5 or a reaction product thereof with an acetylenic compound. Namely, the glass-made polymerizer is vacuumed and cooled with liquid nitrogen, then a catalyst such as arsenic pentafluoride and cooled acetylene is introduced into the polymerizer to form a yellow charge transfer complex. Then, an acetylene gas is introduced to give the objective black high polymer at a moment.
