Abstract

PURPOSE:To further reduce the time required for starting up the engine, by changing the reference level in the comparator according to the engine temperature. CONSTITUTION:The constitution is set up in such a way that the current flowing to glow plugs 7-10 is detected by a resistor 6 with almost zero resistance temperature factor and a voltage comparator 45, the temperature is measured, and the conduction ratio to the glow plugs 7-10 changed according to whether or not the temperature has arrived at the reference level. Besides, a thermosensitive element 46 acting depending upon the engine temperature is connected to the input side of the comparator 45, by which the reference level of the comparator 45 is substantially changed. This facilitates to reduce the preheating time, and to improve the durability with provision of time margin to the temperature limits of the glow plugs 7-10.
