Abstract

PURPOSE: To suitably control the temperature control and shorten the preheating time of an internal combustion engine by connecting a detecting resistor in series with a preheating plug and detecting the change in resistance of the heater of the preheating plug by a comparator to thereby control the relay provided in a preheating plug power supply circuit.
CONSTITUTION: When a switch 2 is closed, a relay 3 is operated to energize a preheating plug RG to thus heat the plug RG. As the temperature of the plug RG becomes high, the resistance of the heater is increased to raise the potential of the point A. When the potential at the pont A becomes higher than that of the point B as standard potential, a comparator C inverts from high to low output to thus return the relay 3. When the relay 3 is returned, it stops energizing of the plug RG to thereby stop heating of the plug RG. The standard voltage is set to the value that the heater does not melt at this time. The starting operation of the engine is detected by detecting means such as a lamp or the like separatly provided upon returning of the relay 3 by operating the starter motor manually or automatically.
