Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the nonuniform wear of an inner and an outer pads, by making the rigidity of the reaction part of a caliper member lower at the side of incoming rotation of a disc than at the side of its outgoing rotation and by bringing the inner and the outer pads into almost uniform contact with the disc.
CONSTITUTION: Since the outer pad pushing surface 23a of a reaction member 5a at the side of incoming rotation of a disc 1 is provided with a smaller area than the outer pad pushing surfaces 23b, 23c of other reaction members 5b, 5c, the reaction member 5a has lower rigidity than the others 5b, 5c. For that reason, when braking is effected, the pushing force of a piston 7 is applied to the disc 1 through an inner pad 9 so that the thrust of the piston 7 to the inner pad 9 at the side of incoming rotation of the disc 1 is increased at the initial stage of the braking but the increase in the thrust is thereafter suppressed because of the opening of the reaction member 5a. As a result, teh inner pad 9 is brought into almost uniform pressure contact with the disc 1. Because of theat pressure contact, an outer pad 11 is also brought into almost uniform pressure contact with the disc 1.
