Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce creak and wear in braking by making the pressing area of an outer friction pad at a portion in the leading side of a caliper larger than that in the trailing side thereof.
CONSTITUTION: The pressing area between a leading arm 31 and an outer pad 27 are made larger than that between a trailing arm 32 and an outer pad 27. Therefore, braking force transmitted to the pad 27 through the leading arm 31 is narmally larger than taht through the arm 32, which causes the leading and trailing side portions of the friction pads to be worn in a same degree since the trend of the leading side portion largely worn under rubbing action is compensated. Thereby decrease in the thickness of the pad 27 is harmonious so as to extend a life of the friction pad 27 and to eliminate creak, in braking, generated due to uneven wearing.
