Abstract

PURPOSE: To carry out uniform coloring without color irregularity by a method wherein an aluminum material is subjected to anodic oxidation treatment, and, thereafter, electrolytic coloring treatment is at first carried out when a cathode potential comes to a constant value, electrolytic voltage is changed to hold said constant value.
CONSTITUTION: An aluminum material is subjected to anodic oxidation treatment in an electrolyte such as a sulfuric acid solution to form a primary film. Subsequently, in an electrolyte such as a nickel solution, the treated aluminum material is subjected to secondary electrolysis to carry out the coloring thereof. In carrying out the secondary electrolysis, at first, said electrolysis is carried out at constant voltage of A.C. or D.C. and, within 1min after starting, when cathode potential comes to show a constant value, electrolytic voltage is changed next so as to keep said constant value. Thereby, a coloring extent can be freely controlled by length of a constant potential keeping time. Further, either in A.C. or D.C., first voltage is pref. about 10W18V and current density is pref. about 0.2W1.0A/dm2.
