Abstract

PURPOSE: To form good anodic oxidation film with relatively low voltages by performing primary DC electrolysis with a certain voltage then secondary DC electrolysis with a voltage lower than this at the time of subjecting Mg and Mg alloy to surface treatment by an anodic oxidation method.
CONSTITUTION: The Mg alloy containing Al; 8.6%, Zn; 0.5% is subjected to anodic oxidation treatment in the solution containing potassium manganate; 20g/l, potassium fluoride; 35g/l, potassium phosphate; 35g/l, caustic potash; 100g/l. Here, the anodic oxidation treatment is performed by keeping the solution at ordinary temperature, supplying current for several minutes at initial voltage; 30V then supplying current for 30 minutes at electrolyzing voltages of 4W15V lower than this. At voltages of 4W8V, the even film of grey and reddish-brown colors is evenly formed and at above 10V, the opaque white color film evenly formed.
