Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a titled filament of a circular section and high quality by ejecting an Fe alloy of specific composition contg. Si and B through a spinning nozzle having a specific bore and taking up the filament simultaneously with cooling and solidifying in a rotator. CONSTITUTION:An Fe alloy contg., by atom %, <=17.5% Si, 5-22% B, where 20- 32.5% Si+B, and if desired, further contg. <=30%, 20%, 10%, 10%, 5%, 5%, 5% Co, Ni, Cr, Mo, V, W, Zr respectively and consisting of the balance Fe is treated as follows: The above-described alloy of Fe is melted in a heating furnace 5, and the molten metal 4 thereof is ejected from a spinning nozzle 2 having a bore DM satisfying the equation II into a rotator 6 contg. cooling liquid, whereby it is cooled and solidified. Then, the spun alloy is taken up continuously on the inside wall of the rotator by the centrifugal force of said rotator 6. An aq. soln. cooled to below ordinary temp. is preferable as the above-mentioned cooling liquid. Thereby, the metallic filament of a circular section of which the diameter is DM or slightly smaller than this is obtained.
