Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled composition that contains a negatively swelling material of ceramic composed of Li2O, Al2O3 and SiO2 at a specific ratio and a specific inorganic binder in a specific proportion, thus having a negative or extremely low positive expansion coefficient and showing gas-tight properties.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 10W45pts.wt. of a negatively swelling material of LiO2. Al2O3.SiO2 ceramic of the formula (x is 0.5W1.5, y is 1.0W2.0, 0.5≤y≤2.0) and (B) 55W90pts. of an inorganic binder of 800W1,000°C softening point, preferably aluminosilicate glass or pyrex glass of 30×10-7W60×10-7 expansion coefficient are mixed to give the objective composition. A preferable A/B ratio is 30/70W20/80wt.
