Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve available efficiency of a pattern memory in a printer printed by a dot matrix by a method wherein one line of the information read out of a pattern memory is read on a register. CONSTITUTION:Eighteen thermal heads are arranged vertically on a printer head 10 and the pattern memory 11 can read out 8 bits at one time. Now, when as printing instruction is given, address N of the pattern memory 11 is set and bids 1-8 of address N are accumulated at the 1st register 13a. The information accumulated at the 1st register part 13a is shifted whenever a CLOCK signal occurs and shifted sequentially to an output register 13. Bits 1-17 of address N and address N+1 are accumulated at the outputs D1-D17 of the output register 13, and when bits 18-24 of address N+2 are accumulated at the 1st register part 13a, the outputs D1-D17 and an output D18 of the 1st register part 13a are inputted to a head 10 through a circuit 14.
