Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect knocking on any operation condition by comparing a parameter, showing the spectral shape of an engine vibration signal, with a reference parameter showing that featuring the occurrence of knocking. CONSTITUTION:Vibrations of an engine body are converted by a nonresonant signal detection part 10 into an electric signal, which is inputted to a digital filter 11. On receiving the signal from the detection part 10, the filter 11 performs A/D conversion H and finds PARCOR coefficients K1-Kq, used to discriminate knocking, by using one-sample time delay circuits D1-Dq to send the results to a discriminator 12. The discriminator 12 calculates distance (d) by a distance calculator 13 on the basis of the output of a reference coefficient generator 14 corresponding to the rotational frequency of the engine predetermined corresponding to the occurring knocking and coefficients K1-Kq to make a comparison with a reference value (r). When the distance (d) is less than the reference value (r), a knocking detection signal is generated. This constitution like this detects the knocking with sufficient precision and also improves response characteristics.
