Abstract

PURPOSE:To optionally set ignition time through an ignition time controller which delays a reference crank angle signal by time corresponding to the interval between cylinders, by altering the quantity of the delay depending on the intensity of knock, the temperature of an engine, the temperature of sucked air and the quantity of recycled exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION:An ignition time delaying circuit 16 receives a signal from a knock detector 18 and a signal from a sucked air temperature sensor 14 provided in an intake means such as an air cleaner 1, a carburetor 2 and an intake manifold 3. The quantity of delay is controlled depending on the temperature of sucked air and the intensity of knock. As a result, the ignition time of an engine can be always controlled to the optimum regardless of the changes in the temperautre of sucked air or the engine, the quantity of recycled exhaust gas and the like.
