Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the durability of a charge holding drum by providing a cleaning member to a press roller, which presses the transfer layer surface of an intermediate transfer body during the transfer and fixation of a toner image to copying paper while using said press roller as a cleaning roller. CONSTITUTION:A charge holding drum 1, having an extended charge holding body 1a on its surface, is turning in the direction shown by an arrow. Further, a transfer and fixation roller 6 has a heating source 8, such as an infrared lamp, internally to transfer and fix toner on an intermediate transfer belt 10 to copying paper. Furthermore, the press roller 7 has a heating source 8, such as an infrared lamp, internally to transfer and fix the toner image on the intermediate transfer belt 10, and serves as a cleaning roller which cleans the intermediate transfer belt 10. Thus, the cleaning function is added to the press roller at a transfer and fixation position, so the charge holding drum and intermediate transfer body are cleaned effectively, thereby improving the durability of the charge holding body.
