Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a display device of a long life and high characteristics having an orientation film of superior adhesive strength and high heat resistance by forming a specific polyimide silicone type high polymer film on liquid crystal sandwiching substrates and the electrodes thereon. CONSTITUTION:A polyimide silicone type high polymer film obtained by causing a carboxylic acid anhydride such as a pyromellitic acid anhydride, diamine such as diaminodiphenylether and diaminosiloxane to react is formed on liquid crystal sandwiching substrates and the electrodes formed thereon. This film is rubbed with gauze or the like to make an oriented film. This polyimide film has high adhesive strength to the substrates and the electrodes, is highly resistant to heat, withstands all rubbing treatment conditions, and will not cause degradation in orientation characteristic and peeling despite heating during assembling of liquid crystal display device. Hence, the stable display device having a long life is obtained.
