Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the distribution of flow velocity uniform and reduce the vibration of a hull and cavitation, by providing a plurality of reinforcing and straightening vanes which obliquely extend by backward between the longitudinal plates of a shoe piece which supports a rudder on the stern.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of longitudinal plates 6 are provided so that they extend vertically and their rear ends are secured on a rudder bearing member 5 and their front ends are secured on the bottom of a stern core member 2. Reinforcing and straightening vanes 7 are provided between the longitudinal plates 6 almost perpendicularly thereto and secured on the plates 6 so that the vanes 7 obliquely extend up backward. When a hull is moving with a rotating propeller, water near a shoe piece 4 flows through between the longitudinal plates 6 and the reinforcing and straightening vanes 7 so that the water flows into the propeller while the water is hardly disturbed and is not decelerated. As a result, the distribution of the water flow at the propeller is made almost uniform.
