Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain extremely large power of an engine brake, by providing a device in which an exhaust cam is advanced to an angle of about 100-180 deg. at operation of the engine brake. CONSTITUTION:If an engine brake switch 10 is turned on and an accelerator pedal is released in travelling motion of an automobile, a switch 11 interlocking to said pedal is turned on to connect a power source 12 to a solenoid coil 5. Then the solenoid cool 5 is energized, and a moved member 3 is axially moved sliding through an actuating lever 4. In accordance with this sliding motion, the moved member 3 is turned with respect to a cam gear 2 by the coupling of a helical spline to the cam gear 2, then a cam shaft 1 is rotated to advance an exhaust cam 8 to an angle of about 100-180 deg.. Further at this time, a fuel injection pump 13 is turned to a state of no injection by on-operation of a switch 10. In the above constitution, very large power of an engine brake can be obtained.
