Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize a small-sized, lightweight optical information recorder and reader with high performance by using a parabolic mirror for condensing, and thus realizing a large numerical aperture, facilitated elimination of spherical aberration, and the increased degree of freedom of a material. CONSTITUTION:Luminous flux 20 radiated from a light source (e.g. semiconductor laser) 10 is reflected and condensed by an aspherical mirror 60 to form a fine spot on a prescribed surface of an information record carrier. The reflected light containing information travels backward on the forward path as circularly polarized light or elliptically polarized light in the opposite rotational direction to the incident light, and is transmitted in a 2/4 plate 50 through the aspherical mirror 60; and the reflected light having an about phase difference (x) from the incident light is reflected by a polarizing beam splitter 40 nearly at right angles to the incident optical axis, and the luminous flux passed through the astigmatism system of a convex lens 80 and a cylindrical lens 90 is condensed on a photodetector 100, thereby converting an optical information signal from an information record carrier into an electric signal.
