Abstract

PURPOSE: To offer a Cu alloy suitable for the fin of a radiator for automobile excellent incorrosion-resistance, by letting Cu contain specified small amounts of Fe and P.
CONSTITUTION: Cu is melted in a graphite crucible, and the surface of the molten metal is covered with charcoal powder. Thereafter, Fe and P are added so as to let the molten metal contain 0.02W0.6% Fe and 0.01W0.1% P. The ingot of the Cu alloy is rolled into a thin sheet and used as a fin material for a car radiator. Consequently, the fin material having excellent corrosion-resistance is obtained, without substantially injuring the good thermal conductivity of Cu itself.
