Abstract

PURPOSE: To offer a copper alloy excellent in heat resistance, electric conductivity, heat transmissibility, platability, solderability and mechanical strength, by adding specified amounts of Ni, P, Zn and optionally Sn into Cu.
CONSTITUTION: A Cu alloy containing 0.01W1.0% Ni, 0.002W0.1% P, 0.05W 3.0% Zn and optionally 0.01W0.2% Sn is prepared by melting. An ingot made of the Cu alloy is hot rolled at 800°C, pickled with an acid, and then formed to a sheet material by two times cold rolling accompanied with annealing. Thus, a high strength copper alloy, useful as an electric or electronic device, a fin for a heat exchanger or the like, can be produced.
