Abstract
PURPOSE:To uniformly supply a quantity of intake air to each intake valve in a 4-cycle engine having at least three intake valves. CONSTITUTION:When four intake valve are provided, an intake valve 16A is located in the center 12 of a bore, while an intake valve 16B is located on a center axial line 14 of the bore. The other valves 16C, 16D are located so as to hold the valves 16A, 16B. Alphanumerals 18A-18C show exhaust valves. Intake passages 22, 24 are formed to a cylinder head 26 so as to be symmetrical for the bore center axial line 14. The intake passages 22, 24 are divided into two branches on the half way. That is, intake air flows into the intake valves 16A, 16B from branch passages 22A, 24A and 22B, 24B of each intake passage 22, 24. Accordingly, if sectional area and curvature of the branch passage are adequately selected, a suitable amount of intake air can be smoothly supplied to the all intake valves in no relation to rotary speed of an engine.
