Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable condenser, standing-by and pump operations within a short term by using compressed air for drainage of a runner chamber and using a pump for drainage of a casing. CONSTITUTION:For making condenser operation, first a guide vane 1 is fully closed to stop water current inside a reversible pump-turbine. Then a compressed air in an air tank 15 is fed to a runner chamber 3 to depress water in the vicinity of a runner 4 until a water surface reaches a specified water level 6. Thus, a runner 4 gets idling. Subsequently, a gate 12 is fully closed and a drainage valve 18a is opened to discharge water until water in a casing 2 reaches a certain water level 8 through driving a drainage pump 19. Thereby, the runner 4 is idled in atmosphere and there is no interaction of cooling water and the runner 4, freezing of a danger of thermal expansion of the runner 4 and enabling operation with less input of an idle shaft.
