Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the choking of a fuel injection valve and the deterioration of the flow characteristic, by employing an air chamber around the tip section of a fuel injection valve at the stopping side while injecting the clean air at the upstream of a throttle valve from the air chamber during the partial cylinder operation and preventing the E.G.R. from contacting to the tip of the valve. CONSTITUTION:A fresh air stopper valve 5 will close during the partial cylinder operation to stop the fresh air to the stopping side cylinders D, E, F while simultaneously an E.G.R. valve 12 will open to return the exhaust gas to the stopping side cylinders D, E, F. While simultaneously the fuel supply from the stopping side fuel injection valves (d), (e), (f) is stopped and the clean air at the upstream of a throttle valve 2 is led through a lead-in tube 28 into the air chamber 17 formed around the tip section 16 of the valve 16. Said air is injected through a fuel lead hole 29 in the direction of a suction tube 31 while covering the tip section 16 of said valves (d), (e), (f). Consequently the exhaust gas returning through the cylinders D, E, F will never intrude to contact with the tip section 16 of said valves (d), (e), (e) thereby the tip section 16 is maintained clean continuously.
