Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent sticking of the dust of a toner, etc. on electric discharge electrodes by providing shielding members having openings for flowing in and out of air on the outer side of back plates for shielding of corona dischargers. CONSTITUTION:An electrophotographic device is formed by disposing electrostatic chargers 3, 4, 5, a developing device 7, a transfer charger 8, a cleaning device 10, etc. on the outside circumference of a photosensitive drum 1. Here, each of the corona dischargers used as the chargers is formed by providing a shielding member 13 via a gap G on the outer side of a shielding member 12, surrounding a discharging wire 11 so as to cover the entire part thereof, and further providing an opening 14 for flowing in and out of air on the top surface of the member 13. Since the ion wind produced by the wire 11 and the toner dust produced by the device 10 flows through the opening 14 by passing through the gap G of the members 12, 13, the wire 11 is maintained always clean.
