Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain uniformly oxidized fibers, by oxidizing acrylic fibers containing a P compound and/or B compound in a sepcific atmosphere, applying the P compound and/or B compound additionally thereto, and oxidizing the resultant fibers in a specified atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: Acrylic fibers containing 0.01W0.3wt%, expressed in terms of P and/or B, P compound and/or B compound are oxidized in an oxidizing atmosphere at 200W400°C to give an oxygen content of 5W8wt%, and then 0.02W 0.3wt%, expressed in terms of P and/ or B, P compound or B compound or both are additionally applied thereto. The resultant fibers are then oxidized at 250W 400°C, preferably in an inert gas with an oxygen content of 0.2W9vol% to give a combined oxygen content ≥15% and a core ratio ≤8%.
