Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a composition having high impact resistance and balanced properties such as gloss, tensile strength, etc., by adding an organic polysiloxane to a specific rubber-modified styrene resin. CONSTITUTION:A rubber-modified styrene resin composition having a methanol- soluble content of <=3%, preferably 1.1-1.4%, and composed of dispersed particles of a rubbery polymer having an average particle diameter of 0.5-2.5mu, preferably 0.6-1.2mu and containing 70wt% high-cis-polybutadiene having a cis-1, 4-bond content of >=90mol%, and an organic polysiloxane (especially polydimethylsiloxane). The amount of the rubbery polymer is 1-15%, and that of the polysiloxane is 0.005-0.2%, preferably 0.006-0.07% as silicon. The composition can be obtained by polymerizing a styrene monomer in the presence of the rubbery polymer. The addition of the polysiloxane can be carried out at an arbitrary stage; however, addition to the monomer or in the extrusion step is preferable.
