Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a high-density recording medium by adding glycerol ester of fatty acid to the magnetic layer of a magnetic recording medium.
CONSTITUTION: When extremely fine ferromagnetic material powder is kneaded with a binder vehicle, glycerol ester of fatty acid is added to the binder vehicle to obtain uniform dispersibility and also to smoothen a magnetic coating. To obtain large effect, glycerol ester of fatty acid having 12W22 carbon number is used. As fatty acid, stearic acid, or stearic acid and oleic acid are suitable. Thus, a magnetic recording medium suitabe for high-density recording is obtained.
