Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable quick operation for speed change, by changing the impedance of a commutation circuit for an electromagnetic coil in response to a disengaging signal for an electromagnetic clutch to control the duration of commutation to quickly disengage the clutch.
CONSTITUTION: A power supply circuit for an electromagnetic coil 2 provided in an electromagnetic clutch is composed of a battery 1 and transistors 3, 4 and equipped with a resistor 6 and a diode 5 for commutation. A diode 7 is provided to constitute another commutation circuit without the transistor 4. The voltage across the diode 7 is set not higher than a voltage drop which occurs when the same exciting current is caused to flow through the resistor 6. When a clutch disengaging signal is supplied by a drive control circuit 13, the transistor 4 is turned off to stop power supply from the battery 1 to the coil 2 and commutate an exciting current to the diode 7. For that reason, the duration of commutation is controlled to be short to quickly disengage the electromagnetic clutch.
