Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce max. oil film pressure by giving the shell's outside surface an eccentricity, incorporating into a chock in such a way that the inner surface at that part having a large curvature will become the lubricating surface, and by forming gaps between the chock and shell on both sides of the load.
CONSTITUTION: A shell 1 with small wall thickness is processed for eccentric outside surface and incorporated in a chock 2 in such a way that a gap 6 is formed between the chock 2 and shell 1 at the part where the outside surface of the shell 1 has larger curvature (R). Rise of pressure owing to the lubricating action of the fluid flowing the bearing gap 5 will cause a convex elastic deformation to the shell 1 easily because of the gap 6 to the chock 2, and the pressure distribution of the oil film expands both in the circumferential and axial directions, so that the maximum value for oil film pressure can be decreased.
