PURPOSE:To produce a titled steel plate of superior plating performance and good corrosion resistance by undercoating the steel plate with an Mo oxide through cathodic electrolytic treatment then subjecting the same to metal hot dipping without allowing the same to contact the atmospheric air after the hydrogen reduction of said oxide. CONSTITUTION:An Mo oxide is coated at >=30mg/m<2> per side through cathode electrolytic treatment on a steel plate applied with a surface cleaning treatment such as degreasing treatment or this in combination with a pickling treatment. Thence, this undercoated steel plate is subjected to a heating treatment in a reducing atmosphere contg. gaseous hydrogen, and the MO oxide is reduced by hydrogen reduction. Metal hot dipping is applied on the coating layer without exposing the coating layer consisting of an Fe-Mo alloy or Mo formed on the surface of the steel plate by said reduction to the atmospheric air. According to this method, plating adhesiveness is improved, and defects such as non-plating are prevented, and further corrosion resistance is improved.
