Abstract
PURPOSE:To form a colored film with an arbitrary pattern on the surface of a metal material, by a method wherein an object, to which a pattern will be transferred, made of a metal material capable of being colored by an electrochemical method in the presence of an electrolyte and a plate electrode having a conductivity distribution formed into a pattern are placed facing closely to each other and subjected to electrolysis. CONSTITUTION:An object 3, to which a pattern will be transferred, made of a metal material (e.g., aluminum, zinc, etc) capable of being colored by an electrochemical method in the presence of an electrolyte and a plate electrode 4 having a pattern formed by a nonuniform conductivity distribution are placed facing closely to each other and subjected to electrolysis in an electrolyte 2. The treatment is carried out a plurality of times while changing the direction, position or type or the plate electrode 4. Thereby, it is possible to obtain a colored film with a pattern having a high value in design.
