Abstract
PURPOSE:To reuse energy through recovery of the sensible heat from an ingot by disposing jackets enclosing an ingot guide passage between the respective rollers of roller aprons constituting the ingot guide passage and circulating cooling water therein. CONSTITUTION:Molten steel 3 flows through a mold 4, by which a shell is formed. As it passes through roller aprons 7-12 mounted with jacket blocks, the radiation heat generated from the ingot is absorbed by the cooling water flowing in the jacket, whereby the ingot is cooled. The water in a cooling water pit 18 is fed to the respective jacket blocks by means of a cooling water circulation pump 19, and cools the ingot. The resultant hot water is fed to a heat exchanger 24 and the cooling water heat exchanged with a low temp. medium 25 is discharged into the pit 18. The medium 25 is evaporated by the heat exchanging with the hot water past the jacket blocks in the heat exchanger 24 to form a high pressure gas which is fed into a gas turbine 29, thereby driving a generator 30.
