Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the melt-sticking of a toner in the recesses on the surface of a photoconductive layer wherein a photoconductive material is dispersed in a resin binder and the degradation of photosensitive characteristics through formation of films by subjecting said photoconductive layer to a moisture resistance treatment then packing hydrophobic particles in the recesses on the surface of the photoconductive layer. CONSTITUTION:A photoconductive layer 1 wherein, for example, photoconductive ZnO is dispersed in a resin binder, is formed on a conductive substrate 2, and particles 3 of hydrophobic silica, Al2O3, polymer of CF2=CF2, etc. having about <=3mu grain sized and >=10<12>OMEGAcm electric resistance are packed in the recesses of the layer 1. Prior to the packing silicone oil is beforehand coated on the layer 2 to make it moisture resistant. The fine particles to be packed are about 5-50g/m<2> and the more the better. The packing is accomplished by a method of sticking said fine particles on an elastic material roll flocked on the surface, and bringing this in pressure contact with the surface of the layer 1 or sliding the same thereon. The packed particles are not removed despite cleaning work of a photoreceptor on account of the tack of the bonded resin of the layer 1. In this way, the entry of a toner 4 into the recesses and the formation of films on the layer 2 do not occur, and the residual toner 5 does not form any film 6 by melt sticking.
