Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound efficiently, by reacting an aromatic polyester with a biscyclic iminoether compound in the presence of a specific low-molecular compound at low temperature in a low melt viscosity state.
CONSTITUTION: For example, (A) a terminal carboxyl group-containing aromatic polyester is blended at low temperature (e.g., ≤150°C) with (B) 0.01W5wt% based on polyester A of a biscyclic iminoether compound[especially preferably 2,2'- bis(2-oxazoline), etc.]shown by the formula (X1 and X2 are unreactive hydrocarbons containing 2W3 cyclic member atoms; D is unreactive bifunctional organic group; n is 0 or 1) and (C) a low-molecular compoune (e.g., nitrobenzene, etc.) unreactive with the polyester A, having a molecular weight of ≤1,000 and a boiling point at normal pressure of ≥200°C, and reacted in molten state, to give the desired polyester.
