Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a small-hysteresis voltage comparator which is suitably IC- implemented, by generating an offset voltage by varying the operation current ratio of an input differential couple of transistors (TR) of a differential input type voltage comparator according to an output state. CONSTITUTION:A differential input type voltage comparator is composed of pnp TRs Q1 and Q2, npn TRs Q3 and Q4, a constant-current source I0, etc. When a reference voltage VREF is higher than an input voltage VIN, an output VOUT is at a high level and a switch SW stays off. Then, when the VOUT goes to a low level and the switch SW is closed, a current flows from a hysteresis power source IH to the TRQ3. Therefore, then the VOUT goes to the high level again, collector currents of TRs Q1 and Q2 are unbalanced to generate an offset voltage with hysteresis width which corresponds to the voltage VH of the power source IH, thereby adjusting the hysteresis width according to the offset power source without any resistance, etc. As a result, a small hysteresis voltage comparator which is suitably IC-implemented is obtained.
