Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve efficient communication, by providing a plurality of antennas with different directivity with an artificial satellite, and selectively using the antennas having the maximum gain toward a ground station. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of antennas 13a-13i are fitted to a plane (lower plane) 12 of an artificial satellite 11 opposing to the earth, the main axis of directivity patterns 14-16 of each antenna is different, and when a half-amplitude level of the directivity is 40 deg., the main axis of directivity is shifted by 40 deg.. Cone shape overall directivity with 120 deg. is obtained toward the earth from the lower plane 12 of the artificial satellite 11. When the satellite 11 passes just above the earth station 17, since the distance is the nearest than other states, the gain of the antenna 13b is reduced and the half-amplitude level of the directivity is taken greater, allowing to increase the gain of the antennas 13a, 13c. When electromagnetic waves are transmitted from the earth station 17, they are received at all the antennas 13a-13i, an antenna having the maximum input is selected and transmission/reception can be made by using the antenna.
